Theatre Staging
Proscenium Arch
In an arena theatre, the audience sits on all four sides of the stage, which means that once the performers are all on stage they have to stay on the stage for the full duration of the act or how. Arena theatres are harder to light and sound because of their odd seating arrangements.
Arena Theatre- Theatre in the Round
In an arena theatre, the audience sits on all four sides of the stage, which means that once the performers are all on stage they have to stay on the stage for the full duration of the act or how. Arena theatres are harder to light and sound because of their odd seating arrangements.
Thrust stage
In a Thrust stage, the audience sits on three sides of the stage and the stage comes out into the audience, breaking the fourth wall. Because there are wings the actors don't have to be on the stage throughout the whole duration of the show. In terms of lighting, it could be hard to light the end of the stage area because there is no hidden area above the stage to rig lights above.
Traverse Theatre
Traverse theatres are often hard to direct and perform on because there is the challenge of lighting, prop and set design, and directing the actors so they perform towards both sides of the audience.
